OUR NEW FRIEND

Hard boiled eggs on Monday produced this bubble on the side from a cracked piece of shell. I had ideas of doing something similar but was beaten to the 'post' by daughter number 1. He does have potential do you agree! He has caused plenty of amusement here!
The school holidays are here again, lovely to have our Melbourne family again although tomorrow they are off to cousins further north for a couple of days. We are back to the morning i-pad scrabble games in bed with cups of tea and then one of us getting the porridge. Very lazy way to start the day but good for the grey matter!! This morning has been extra slow as there wasn't anything that HAD to be done. The flute playing grandson decided to come to do his practice in the bedroom with us and after a few minutes the 13 1/2 yr old flopped onto the bed between his mother and me, wanting to play as well. Of course we accommodated him but a few groans later he didn't want to play. He went very quiet after a few moments, relaxed and while listening to the beautiful flute practice he was asleep. AND STILL IS!  FOUR HOURS LATER!!  We keep checking him and his younger brother has been desperate to wake him, not for company but to be a pest. We can't believe it! The worst thing for me is the landline is under the bed clothes switched off and I can't use the phone!
The big one has gone to Melbourne on the train to the dentist and we are left here, very sad!! Aldi's beer batter fish and their chips are for the boys for dinner and we will have steak and salad, what could be easier. Our little local fish and chip shop isn't very good so I was delighted to find Aldi's fish good, certainly good to have in the freezer for an odd night of no cooking...not much anyway. Not that healthy I know!!

I have been using the pinhole feature on my camera, just experimenting. It's nap time....on this busy busy day so off to bed I go!

MESS AND ME, or reorganizing my brain!

If only I were as serene as this lily! Instead I think my brain feels like this....

and this....

Sooooo....
I am having a big sort out!
Thinking a creative mind needs some space to work in!!

An organized shelf...

and books to find a new home !
So, like an algebraic equation, where -m-s =c, I am beginning to create again....[m equals 'mess', 'space sorting' and c equals 'creativity']....

and...

Just a beginning but it is a beginning!
It does help too that I have started to have some sort of a schedule, probably for the first time in a long long while. I have Mr E helping with some of my chores like vacuuming and hanging out the washing as I need to be more careful with my back. That is so wonderful to have that extra care. Then we are scheduling time in the garden together and we are seeing such good results. I am not going to Melbourne so often as things there are better and I am doing more with my time.
Meditating more regularly is also helping me, perhaps not finding serenity just yet but perhaps taking a more solid step towards this magical S for serenity.

Have a happy weekend to you all, and don't forget to leave a message if you would like to. I am always interested and pleased to hear from you!

THE FIRST WEEK OF SEPTEMBER

What a week it has been for the first week of Spring. This was the frost we had on Sunday, 2nd of September, there had been one the day before as well, just not so severe. Later in the day I walked with the dogs in the glorious sun.....
the 'boys' came to investigate...
Bear didn't think much of the curious glances he was receiving, in fact he was decidedly uncomfortable!
A walk in the garden showed me Spring was really here...
A blurry peek at the first leaves on the quince trees and a.....
Surprise hyacinth popping up, i think i must have planted a pot there and forgotten about it... a lovely surprise!
A walk to the front gate to collect our mail, we only get the mail delivered three days a week, one would think we were in the outback, but hang on, i think many places there get their mail every day. We have become used to this over the years and we can always drive to the post office which is about ten k's away if we are expecting something important.
Something of interest for Bear, all ready to pounce on something.
And the next day the weather changed. sine then there have been weather warnings for the state, gale force winds damaging lots of properties, not ours thank goodness, rain and it has been cold, cold, cold. The big one and i have just been out to collect some wood, thankfully it was cut so it just had to be loaded on to the trailer and brought home. Lovely to be out in the fresh air but I was very pleased to come back inside to the warm fire.
A lovely observation yesterday, another glimpse into my mother-in-laws past. i have always known she loved birds and we have a little collection of her 'birds'. We have three pottery quail on our table and yesterday as I clicked the camera on  the light shining through a tulip on the table I noticed for the first time the picture of quail on the side of the vase, sitting next to pottery quail. she would have known this when she bought the pieces.

The sky is very dark outside ... more rain I am sure.
Not much crafting from me at the moment but I am getting there. Have been painting and drawing a little and also having big cleanups in my studio and all the collection of books we have here. we need some 'consolidation' here I think.
Have a lovely weekend wherever you are..as we will.
