So...into the garden I went....a million zillion roses to be pruned here in our rented garden, so it seems! I'm not going to do them all, I just can't but will do what I can and hopefully get some help from the owners.
This rose almost looked like a paeony with it's lush petals. The buds were stunning and I was thrilled to find a couple to bring inside. The roses haven't been pruned for some time so I did struggle to give them a 'short back and sides', in other words a severe prune. Hopefully they survive and produce lots of blooms and be even better next year.
One rose was tucked under a japonica so it had to be pruned slightly to get to the rose. It wasn't all bad though as I brought some of the japonica sprays inside too....
Which leads me to say I'm going to lash out and buy myself a new camera. I've been very happy with mine until I borrowed one from my brother, a Lumix, an older point and shoot camera as mine is. So easy to see the photos on his camera are much superior to those on my camera so it has been an easy decision really.
Have any of you a favourite smallish point and shoot camera that you're happy with? I've been looking at cameras online and it is all very confusing. I will go to a local camera shop that I know is good and will take their advice. The other thing I need to do is to buy a gadget so that I can load my photos straight onto the ipad. A bit of "learning'ahead for me I do believe!
Have a lovely, happy, calm, and peaceful weekend everybody...in between doing all the necessities!
Good luck with the camera shopping.

Thanks Anne! Any ideas? Love Aubrey
DeleteHi Aubrey, I saved hard and bought a new camera last Nov. I found it very helpful to handle lots of different cameras in the shop and in the end chose one that felt most comfortable in my hands. Your photograph of the japonica is very beautiful xxx
ReplyDeleteThat is a good hint, thankyou, and thankyou for the comment, I love hearing what others have to say, Aubrey
DeleteHow exciting Mum - you won't know yourself with a new camera. I'll have a read up online tomorrow and see if I can come up with anything. Love you, love me. xxooxx.
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy to think my photos are going to improve. Brian's camera is so much better than mine so can imagine a newer one will be even better. Thanks for looking for me, love Mum
DeleteBeautiful rose...strange to read about your winter when we are in the midst of summer here. Took a few minutes to read back over some of your posts...sounds like you have been the midst of making beautiful things and creating lovely sketches. Hope all is well. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debby for visiting and spending time with me, I hope you are having a lovely weekend...another frosty morning here but beautiful sunshine now, very easy to take! Mrs A
Deletelove these Rose images, I bought what I thought was a good small camera for travelling but it does not have an "eye viewer". I dont see it as any better than using my phone. I need the eye viewer as I cannot see in the screen when the sun shines and I end up taking some really his and miss shots
ReplyDeleteThankyou Lorraine for your comments...I haven't an iPhone so rely on a camera. I like your hint about the eye viewer, something I hadn't thought about. I always enjoy reading your blog. Again, hope you're having a lovely weekend! Mrs A
